Export & Rendering Troubleshooting

Solutions for interrupted rendering, storage shortages, and cloud offloaded footage.

When compiling tens of clips into one finished film, your device performs hardware-accelerated video decoding and encoding. If your export gets interrupted, follow these steps:

Troubleshooting Checklist

1. Progress Bar Freezes or Fails

  • Check Storage: If free storage drops below 2GB, the system cannot allocate temporary files for the new video.
  • Fix: Free up at least 3GB of device storage space in system settings, then retry the export.

2. App Interrupted in Background

  • Mobile operating systems throttle or suspend hardware media encoders when apps are minimized or the screen locks.
  • Fix: For long Vlog projects, keep CocoCut open on the export progress screen until rendering completes.

3. Clips Stored in iCloud ("Optimized Storage")

  • Symptom: Black screen frames or sluggish loading.
  • Cause: If device storage optimization is active, original video data may only exist on remote cloud servers.
  • Fix: Open your device's native Photos app, play the specific video once to force a local cache download, then return to CocoCut.

4. Switch to 1080P Export

  • Compiling numerous clips on older hardware can strain device memory.
  • Fix: Change export resolution to 1080P 30fps. Rendering will run significantly faster with rock-solid stability.
